Comments and Review on The Blackberry Inn

5 of 5 starsSeptember 2014

We stayed one night here and really would have stayed a second night, but it was booked. We stayed in the Sweets room, which had 2 beds. It was very large and clean, the beds were comfy and there were snacks in the room. The motel has an old West theme, with various storefronts "Barbershop" "Saloon", etc. Each room is different inside, but not cheesy. I peeked inside several others when the maid was cleaning and they were all really nice.

I would definitely recommend staying here . . . the price is good and it's clean and comfortable.

Anyone visiting Mendocino will know that this charming community has beautiful B&Bs and inns, and most of them are on the spendy side. The Blackberry Inn, just up the hill from the town center, is charming AND affordable. The inn is set up as though it were a small western town: adjoining units have a "bank", a "hatshop", a "jail", etc....we were in the "saloon". All the rooms are tastefully decorated, quiet, and most have an ocean view. When we arrived there was a complimentary split of wine and two glasses to welcome us, and fruit, teabreads and coffee/tea for breakfast (just continental, but with the money we saved, we had a great breakfast in town the next morning). The bed was comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean. We will stay there next time we visit Mendocino.

We thoroughly enjoyed our romantic 3 day, 2 night get-away at the Blackberry Inn. We were warmly greeted by Melissa (Co-Mgr) at check-in. Since this was an exclusive event for us, we were given a bottle of wine to celebrate our occasion. Our room, called the Millinery, was clean, warm and comfortable with a Mendocino coast/ocean view. The evenings were cold so we asked Lou (Co-Mgr) for extra fireplace wood. Lou promptly delivered a wheelbarrow full of wood to the back door of our room. When more wood was needed, Lou graciously took care of our request. The Millinery has a jacuzzi tub, which we thoroughly took advantage of the jacuzzi's swirling warm bubbling water effect. With the Blackberry Inn being so centrally located, we were able to explore the various shops and restaurants in both Fort Bragg and the town of Mendocino. While we were out of our room, the housekeepers cleaned and replenished with fresh towels, special sweet treats, coffee, chocolate and popcorn packs. Overall, we were very comfortable and pleased with our room, service and the hospitality of provided by Lou & Melissa. Thank you Blackberry Inn, you made our romantic stay a memorial occasion.

I was traveling down the California coast with my children for the first time. We had no arranged plans and booked a room an hour before arriving, without any recommendations. We were extremely surprised when we arrived. The place is very nice has a very original decoration. The owner was very very kind and the room impeccable. Good side, sea view and very comfortable. The bathroom clean and the commodities are of high quality . I loved this place and I want to comeback soon.

Stayed here for two nights with my good friend while visiting Mendocino ... What an AMAZING find - we felt so lucky to have this place - great pricing, great service, very quaint, very cute, super clean rooms, awesome fireplace, about as peaceful as it gets, and so close to Mendocino's Main Street and downtown, that we got food from the market and then just ate in our room so we could enjoy the room more. We even roasted marshmallows and made smores! :) Yeah for the Blackberry Inn!!

A friend of mine recommended the place. It's not located in the downtown area. Very secluded and relaxing. Quite gem. Wonderful couple runs the place. Had view of ocean from our room. Would recommend it. Nice swing in front to enjoy the sunset.

“Always Good”

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

My husband and I have stayed here at least 3 separate times in the past few years. It is an older establishment, but well kept. It is always clean, and everything is always in working order. The staff is friendly and helpful. The prices are very reasonable, and they have rooms for all budgets. The decor is a bit eclectic, but charming...kinda like grandmas house, comfortable. The goodie basket is always a welcome addition for the evening or breakfast. Every room has a mini fridge, microwave, and small coffee pot. It isn't in town, but is very close, just a couple of minutes drive to town. Belles place is our favorite room, but this time we stayed in the School house which was still very accommodating. We will definitely consider this inn any time we visit the area.

“A Great Value”

The room was large and extremely clean. Bed very comfortable. Baked goods in basket were a really nice touch and the check-in personnel were friendly and helpful with all our travel questions. The theme of the Old West was unique.

“Charming!”

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

We arrived and were upgraded from the Saloon to Margerite's Millinery. This was a large king room with a fireplace, patio and jacuzzi tub. The fireplace was all set up and when we lit it, the fire burned perfectly for a long while. There is a view of the ocean from the tub and from from the bedroom which has two comfy sitting chairs. The staff is friendly and helpful about what to do and see in the area. The location is a bit away from the town, but any easy enough drive or walk. We liked the Blackberry Inn and the Mendocino coast so much that we opted for an additional night. We would stay again.

“Little Jewel”

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

We stumbled on to Blackberry Inn and it was wonderful. The people at the desk were friendly and responsive. They gave us a cute little basket with yummy cookies and muffins and even a bottle of wine which we had for dinner. The room was cozy and clean. It had a hairdryer and other welcome bathroom items. It was the best buy of our visit up the coast of Calif and Oregon.

Pampering, with Spa Quality Amenities…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

We feel so pampered each time we stay at The Blackberry Inn. The first thing noticed is the attention to detail. Fresh cut flowers, fluffy, bright white towels, spa quality soaps and lotions, and art adorning the walls. The beds are extremely comfortable and cozy. Watching the fire while we drift off to sleep with the calming sound of the ocean is priceless. In the morning, the yummy basket of goodies sitting on our table is quite welcomed, as is the coffee brewing in our pot.

The large, oval bathtub is very inviting after a day on the beach and walking through the redwood forests. We have our favorite room, however the wonderful managers, are always thrilled and proud to show all the other rooms when they are unoccupied.

The gardens and architecture of The Blackberry Inn are truly unique. Thankfully, there is an outdoor sitting area in the midst of it all for quiet reflection, a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or some peaceful reading. We look forward to our next visit.

Beautiful Countryside and Ocean from our Window…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

We were absolutely delighted with our stay at the Blackberry Inn. The room was large and well equipped. We looked out our large, back windows to see beautiful countryside and the ocean. The managers and owner were so welcoming and helpful; they were totally committed to making our stay the best it could be. The beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept on in a hotel or inn. The 'Old West' building facades were adorable and added to the experience and the homemade baked goods were heavenly. We highly recommend the Blackberry Inn.

Positive Reviews and Dog Friendly…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

We booked the Blackberry Inn for one night to celebrate our 45th anniversary. Our choice was based on the very positive reviews - and also because they have rooms designated as dog friendly. As soon as we checked in, we really liked the place - and they had provided us with a bottle of wine to celebrate, as we had requested. So we immediately asked for a second night, which they gladly arranged - with a second bottle of wine! The room was immaculate; all the amenities were provided, including chocolate kisses on the pillows!

A Romantic Sanctuary…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blackberry Inn is where my boyfriend and I took refuge before and after camping at the three day Sierra Nevada World Music Festival nearby. The Innkeeper is very warm and hospitable. It truly is a romantic sanctuary.

Ocean View from the Bathtub…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

We came up to Mendocino for a romantic getaway. We cannot be more pleased with our stay at the Blackberry Inn. We stayed in the Sheriff’s room and it was fabulous. We had a beautiful ocean view from our bathtub, sliding doors and a great fire burning in the fireplace.

Very Cute and Good Value…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Blackberry Inn is very cute and a good value. The complex is set up as an old Western town. When the fog lifted we even had a view of the ocean! My friend went for an early morning walk and saw wild turkeys and a small herd of deer.

Helpful and Willing Staff…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

We stayed in the honeymoon suite, Belle's Place. I was a little afraid that the theme would cross the line into tacky/cheesy, but was pleasantly surprised when we checked in. I really appreciated their willingness to help when we woke up the next day with a flat tire. Not only did they allow us to use their phone, but they let us back into our room after check out to wait for the tow truck. They made what could have been an awful morning into a minor inconvenience. The staff was great, the hotel is clean and quiet, the grounds are beautiful, and the price can't be beat in that area. I highly recommend staying here.
